'A Positive Role Model': Emma, Point Pleasant Star Student
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one resident who is having an impact in Point Pleasant.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Allison Stevens, who nominated her daughter Emma, from Point Pleasant.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Emma has moved almost every year since she was little because of her father's job. Emma, who's an eighth grader, has now made her final move and is staying in Point Pleasant. Emma has been at the school for a year and a half and has worked hard to make high honors every marking period in her honors classes. She goes above and beyond with her schoolwork and enjoys helping others. She even received the highest score in the school for English-Language Arts I-ready. Emma volunteers in the community and is a big part of Junior National Honor Society. She babysits for many local families and is the starting pitcher for her travel softball team. She also enjoys playing recreation basketball, participates in many clubs at school such as the leadership club and diversity club. Emma's hard work in so many aspects of her life has really been a positive role model for her younger siblings.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Emma prioritizes school and helping others.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Emma!
