Railroad Crossing Repairs To Start In Point Pleasant Beach, DOT Spokesman Says

Arnold Avenue will be closed at Route 35 North and Cincinnati Avenue and Cooks Lane

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ - The Arnold Avenue railroad crossing on Route 35 North will be closed from Thursday through Nov. 2 while it's being replaced, according to a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.

Two-way traffic on Arnold Avenue will be closed at the railroad crossing intersection between Route 35 North and Cincinnati Avenue and Cooks Lane, said DOT spokesman Steve Schapiro.

The work will start at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and will run until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, he said.

The existing crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach.

"This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program, which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide," he said.

The following detours will be in place:

Arnold Avenue eastbound:

· Motorists traveling eastbound on Arnold Avenue will be directed onto Route 35 southbound/Richmond Avenue

· Make a left onto Atlantic Avenue

· Make a left onto Chicago Avenue

· Follow to Arnold Avenue

Arnold Avenue westbound:

· Motorists traveling westbound on Arnold Avenue will be directed south on Chicago Avenue

· Make a right onto Atlantic Avenue

· Make a right onto Route 35 northbound/Cincinnati Avenue

· Follow to Arnold Avenue

The work is subject to change depending on the weather, Schapiro said.
