Two New Exhibits At Point Pleasant Museum Of Boating This Month

Come and see New jersey's rich maritime history at the museum

POINT PLEASANT, NJ - How much do you know about the the state's rich maritime history?

Come to the New Jersey Museum of Boating this winter and learn about the the U.S. Lifesaving Service, Coast Guard and shipwrecks along the Jersey coast.

Both exhibits are open through December from noon until 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The U.S. Lifesaving Service and Coast Guard had many stations up and down the shore. There were stations at Bay Head, Mantoloking, Monmouth Beach, Manasquan, Forked River, Ocean City, Long Branch and Spring Lake. Some still exist, many are gone.

The other exhibit features "Shipwrecks of the Jersey Shore," a sobering look at the names and types of vessels and where they met their fates.

The boating museum is located at the Johnson Brothers Boat Works Building 13, 1800 Bay Avenue in Point Pleasant. It was founded in 1998 and currently has about 200 members.
