Theft By Deception, Burglary To A Vehicle: Princeton Police Blotter
The Princeton Police blotter dated Tuesday, Jan. 14 had the following reports:

PRINCETON, NJ — On Jan. 7, at 9:23 a.m. a resident reported being contacted via text message by an unknown individual purporting to be the CEO of a company on Jan. 6. The unknown individual requested the victim purchase a total of five gift cards in the amount $200 each, which was later supplied to the individual. The victim suffered a total loss of $1,000.
On Jan. 8, at 11:28 a.m., a resident reported that on Dec. 13, they fell victim to a scam in which they sent a wire transfer in the amount of $2800, believed to be for the first month’s rent and a security deposit for an apartment advertisement on Craigslist, to an individual purporting to be the landlord. The victim later discovered this was a scam and suffered a monetary loss of $2,800 as a result.
On Jan. 9, at 10:31 a.m., following a motor vehicle stop for unclear license plates, a 44-year-old Trenton man was found to have three active traffic warrants. The man was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, and later released on his own recognizance. He was issued motor vehicle summons for various violations and was released.

On Jan. 10, at 8:45 p.m. A resident reported that on Jan. 09 they were contacted by an unknown individual, purporting to be an officer of an unknown police department. The individual advised the resident that their personal information had been linked to criminal activity in various countries. The unknown individual requested the victim send a wire transfer to prevent their financial accounts from being frozen by the government. The victim completed the transaction and suffered a monetary loss.
On Jan. 11, at 1:16 a.m., following a motor vehicle stop for speeding, the driver, a Ewing resident, was found to be Driving While Intoxicated. The 38-year-old was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed, charged accordingly, and later released. He was issued summonses for DWI, speeding, and reckless driving, and was later released with a court date.

On Jan. 12, at 11:15 a.m., a resident reported that between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Jan. 2, her vehicle was broken into while it was parked in the parking lot of Community Park North. The unknown suspect(s) shattered the passenger-side rear window with an unknown object and stole several items within the vehicle.
On Jan. 12, at 5:18 a.m., patrols were dispatched to the 500 block of Riverside Drive for the report of a vehicle that was parked on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, patrols located the vehicle as well as the driver, a South River resident. The on-scene investigation revealed that the 40-year-old, had operated his vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages. It was also determined that he had been involved in a motor vehicle collision on Prospect Avenue before his final stopping location on Riverside Drive. The man was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, charged, and later released. He was issued several summonses, including DWI, refusal to submit to breath testing, open container in an MV, reckless driving, unsafe vehicle, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, leaving the scene of an MVA, and failure to report an MVA.
