Week in Review: New Bobby Flay Restaurant and More

Other highlights include Community Park Pool to stay open past Labor Day and a technology company founded by Princeton University students.

 

Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay's signature Bobby’s Burger Palace will open at the MarketFair in West Windsor at the end of August. This will be the restaurant chain's fourth New Jersey location, with others located in Eatontown, Paramus and Cherry Hill. The restaurant will feature Flay's signature burger, the Crunchburger, which features potato chips on top of the burger inside the bun.

Lance Liverman's colleagues on Princeton Township Committee have little to say about Liverman's charge for driving under the influence last week after refusing to take a Breathalyzer test following an accident in Hopewell Township.  "The way that I see it is it's a personal matter that Lance has to go through," Township Mayor Chad Goerner said. "I've always supported Lance and what's he's done for the community speaks for himself. He's a wonderful colleague on Township Committee."

The implementation now rests with the Princeton’s municipal employees, led by Borough Administrator Bob Bruschi, who has been tapped as Administrator in the Princeton. Officials anticipated a reduction of 11 positions through consolidation, but only three people actually will lose their jobs, Bruschi said. If all goes according to plan, employees (with the exception of police) will start moving into their new offices in September.

 

The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad is planning two upcoming events to honor Michael Kenwood, the volunteer EMT and rescue technician who died nearly a year ago while attempting a swift water rescue during Hurricane Irene. 

 

The Princeton Recreation Department will extend hours at Community Park Pool past Labor Day for the 2012 season. CP Pool will be open on weekends only, Sept. 8-9 and Sept. 15-16, from noon to 5 p.m. All pool memberships will be valid through the extra weekend dates and daily admission rates will still be in effect. 

 

Ever tried to explore apps in the Android app store, but become frustrated by just seeing a list of the most popular apps? Enter Mapsaurus, a new company launched this summer at Tigerlabs in Princeton. Mapsaurus is one of seven new companies- out of 200 applicants- to receive $20,000 in funding, plus mentoring and office space this summer to launch their product. In exchange, Tigerlabs receives six percent undiluted shares of each company.

 

A Princeton man was arrested early Friday in connection with an armed robbery in the early hours of the morning on Hamilton Street in New Brunswick. Alfred Kornegay, 19, of Leigh Avenue, was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, certain persons not to possess a weapon, robbery, tampering with evidence and aggravated assault. 

 

A Princeton man has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly provided marijuana and alcohol and committed an act of criminal sexual conduct on a minor. Ricardo Jack, 40, of Leigh Ave, Princeton, was arrested by the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended him in Trenton on Aug. 17, according to Princeton Borough Police.
