Teen Girl Critical After Boy Shoots Her In the Back, Prosecutors Say
A teen boy was arrested for allegedly shooting a teen girl in the back in a Bergen County home Tuesday night, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ —A 16-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault and weapons charges Tuesday after shooting a 15-year-old girl in the back, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors say that just before 7:30 p.m., the Ridgefield Park Police Department responded to a report of a person bleeding at a private residence in town.
Police found a 15-year-old girl with an apparent gunshot wound to the back, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

The girl was taken to an area hospital, where she remains in critical condition, prosecutors said.
Police quickly arrested the male teen, prosecutors said. They said an investigation determined that the teen had fired a handgun inside the home, seriously wounding the girl.

He was charged as a juvenile with second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree possession of a firearm by a minor, prosecutors said.
He was brought to the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center pending further action by Bergen County Superior Court Family Law Division.
