Brew the Day: Ridgewood Coffee Back With A Vengeance

After closing for a month to renovate, the RCC returns, and it's not business as usual

Under new ownership and an even newer look, the latest incarnation of will be unveiled to the caffeine-starved public on Friday.

New owners Sara Paleewong and Jan Apanich , and now, with a completely remodeled interior and menu, it's back.

"It's a soft opening," Apanich told Patch on Thursday as staff prepared for the reopening. "We're going to have a lot more baked goods, coffees, espressos, organic soft drinks and unique sandwiches. But we're not totally there yet," he said, pointing to a plastic tarp covering the large window at the 90 E. Ridgewood Avenue shop.

The big blowout party will be on July 14, he said.

That's not to say there won't be a special gathering of sort ready for Friday.

Three tables and nine chairs will be lined up outside and local singer/songwriter Andrew Nieporent will be strumming along on the guitar. Inside, local artist Lindsy Davis will have her artwork on display on the back wall.

To accompany the art, java drinkers will have the same coffee classics, espresso shots, teas (including a Thai tea employees said is going to be very well received) and organic sodas.

Perhaps the biggest wrinkle, however, is a heavier focus on food.There are more baked goods than before the closing, and several types of paninis can now be ordered at the counter.

Those who want to treat a friend of family member can grab a gift card ($25 buys a free coffee or shot of espresso). Customers will also be pleased to know that the Wi-Fi now works, a must-have for a coffee shop.

If you're looking to buy in bulk, that too can be accommodated, Apanich said. Featuring top American micro-roasts, Joe can be taken on the go, in 96 oz. and 160 oz. containers.
