Crime Rates Fall in Ridgewood, Glen Rock

New Jersey State Police show that compared to the first half of 2013, Ridgewood and Glen Rock saw fewer crimes in the first half of 2014.

New Jersey State Police have released their Uniform Crime Report for the first two quarters of 2014. According to their reports, Ridgewood’s crime index has fallen from 100 to 70 in the last year, a nearly 40 percent decrease in crime. Glen Rock’s crime index fell from 47 to 26, with a 45 percent decrease.

Glen Rock saw one incident of violent crime between January and June 2013, and none during the same period of 2014. After 3 incidents of violent crime between January and June 2013, Ridgewood saw 2 such incidents in the first two quarters of this year.

Ridgewood’s nonviolent crime incidents have fallen, from 97 in the first half of 2013, to 68 incidents in the first half of 2014. Glen Rock Police reported 46 nonviolent crimes in the first half of 2013, and only 26 in the first half of 2014, falling 43 percent.
