Electrocardiogram Technician Sexually Assaulted Patient At Bergen Co. Hospital: Officials
A heart monitor technician at a North Jersey hospital was arrested Tuesday for sexually assaulting a patient, say Bergen County prosecutors.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — An electrocardiogram technician was arrested Tuesday for sexually assaulting a patient at a North Jersey hospital, said prosecutors.
Asher Younis, 41, of Dumont, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, and sexual assault, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that on Tuesday morning, the Hackensack Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault that occurred at Hackensack University Medical Center.

An investigation determined that Younis sexually assaulted the woman at the hospital.
He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, said prosecutors.

A spokeswoman for the Hackensack Meridian Health hospital system released a statement Wednesday night saying Younis had been terminated.
“We are aware of the arrest and are fully cooperating with law enforcement on the investigation," she said. "Our highest priority is the safety and security of our patients and team members. Due to the ongoing investigation. HMH cannot comment further.”
This investigation, led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, is continuing, prosecutors said. Anyone with additional information may contact the Prosecutor’s Office Tips line at 201-226-5532.
