Friday: Students Win Scholarships, Awards

Also, Friday will be in a flash flood warning

1) It's easy to remember some of the scholarship recipients at RHS – most on the tip of the tongue will be getting athletic scholarships to play football or lacrosse. But there are tons and tons of academic scholarships.

Jae Hong Kim took home the Chemistry Award, Tara Porfido the Anatomy and Physiology Award, Sean Mattson the Physics Award, Michael Kowalski the biology award, Max Laklow-Leepson the Business/Technology Award and more. Jennie Gilman snagged the New Players Company Director's Award, Lily Josefsberg received the Virtuoso Award and countless others also took home honors.

2) There are six National Merit Scholarship Finalists at RHS: Hydun Ah Byon, Stephen Etna, Sean Mattson, Julia Nussenbaum, Jonathan Riemer and Phoebe Salzman-Cohen.

3) The library will be playing the film Little Fockers at 1:00 p.m.

4) Be careful outside today and prepare for possible incidences of flash flooding on Friday. The watch is in effect with heavy thunderstorms a 50 percent probability. It will be about 81 degrees on Friday.

5) Joshua Greene has been selected to be the new music director at Pro Art Chorale. Greene is well known as an assistant conductor with the Met and also teaches at Mannes College, The New School for Music. The first concert under his direction will be November 11 at West Side Presbyterian.
