Glen Rock Overnight Parking Restrictions To Be Enforced Oct. 15

The restrictions were first suspended in March when the COVID-19 stay-at-home order was issued.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — The Glen Rock Police Department will begin to phase in enforcement of overnight parking restrictions beginning Oct. 15.

The restrictions were first suspended in March when COVID-19 stay-at-home order was issued and continued during the statewide directive to reduce all non-essential travel in response to the pandemic.

With the fall leaf and winter snow season approaching, police said it is necessary for residents to begin planning to ensure all their vehicles are removed from any borough roadway and borough owned parking lot by 2 a.m. and not returned until after 5 a.m.

According to police, if there is a situation with a disables vehicle, driveway repair or an occasional guest, residents may call the non-emergency number 201-652-3800 after 7 p.m. on any night. The vehicles' location, description and license plate number must be provided to the dispatcher.

Police said if there is also a situation where a resident's home may be under construction or any other extenuating circumstances where extended permission is sought, residents may contact the police department's records bureau at 201-670-3941 or records@glenrockpolice.com to submit an application for a longer term overnight parking permit, valid for 90 days. A deposit of $5 per permit is required via check. Permits are only processed when the records bureau is open - no after hours request can be accommodated.

Motorists are encouraged to reduce on street parking when roadways are covered with snow and to avoid parking on piles of leaves during leaf collection season. All overnight parking permission is revoked when a snow emergency is declared, police said.
