BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A desperate Glen Rock computer-owner was scammed out of $25,000 after gift-wrapping the cash in shoe box and leaving it on the front porch, official said.
The unidentified victim, believing the $25,000 would buy technical support for a computer issue, left the box on the porch on March 2, Glen Rock police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The scam began with a pop-up message directing viewers to call Apple or Microsoft about a technical issue, officials said.
