Historic Train Rumbles Through Ridgewood
Ex PRR-E8 passed through Ridgewood for a journey on the historic Erie Lakawana tracks
A train that hasn't left the Ridgewood station for decades was on its way to Youngstown, Ohio Friday on the same route that took Erie trains to Chicago until the 1960s. The Friday morning run was a trip organized by train enthusiasts. Patch reader Dan Johnson took these great photos of the ex-PRR E8 owned by Bennett Levin (of the Juniata Terminal Company) roaring past the Ridgewood station.
The train can likely be seen:
Aug 5 Hoboken to Corning to Bath, NY (overnight in Bath)
Aug 6 Bath to Meadville with a stop in Jamestown for dedication of rebuilt station
(overnight in Meadville)
Aug 7 Meadville to Youngstown to Pittsburgh (overnight at the Amtrak station)
Aug 8 Pittsburgh to Philly via the Conemaugh Line
