'Irate' Recycler Hurls Styrofoam At Bergen Drop-Off Site Workers: Cops

A recycler became irate when he found out the site did not recycle Styrofoam, and then threw the plastic foam and walked out, officials said

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A recycler who was told by workers at his local drop-off facility that they don't accept Styrofoam hurled the plastic foam and left in a huff.

A 69-year-old man, authorities said, sought to drop off the foam Friday afternoon at the Glen Rock Recycling Center and became "irate" when he was told the site didn't recycle foam, borough police Chief Dean Ackermann said.

The borough man began to cause a disturbance, was abusive toward employees, and then threw his Styrofoam and walked out — a set of events that was captured on surveillance video, Ackermann said.
