Letter to the Editor About Ridgewood Parking Ticket: 'There is Absolutely No Reason for This'

Michael Gray shares his frustration over getting a parking ticket when "the meter even had -0.01 minute blinking on it."

Dear Editor,

Happy New Year. I am Michael Gray, a Ho-Ho-Kus resident.

I wanted you all to know how outraged I am right now. “They” say don’t write a note when irritated, but here you all go.

I drove into Ridgewood last week and left a very special poster to be framed by the downtown Ridgewood framer, Fairbanks Art. He does a nice job and appreciates the business.

Today I just parked in a spot on East Ridgewood Avenue at 3:30 p.m. and had no change. This parking meter had a few minutes left so I walked a few feet to the corner of Prospect and went into the framer. I paid him and walked out and around the corner to my car with my framed poster just a few minutes later and your employee (ticket meter guy) was somehow ALREADY standing there writing a parking ticket????????

You have to be kidding me. How is this even possible?

There is absolutely no reason for this. The meter even had -0.01 minute blinking on it.

What is the reason that you can give me to take my precious time and money into your downtown to shop and eat? I am outraged.

Sincerely,

Michael Gray
