Man Scammed Bergen County Senior Out Of 25K In Home Improvement Scam: Police
A man has been arrested for scamming a Bergen County senior out of more than $25,000, said Glen Rock police.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Queens, N.Y. resident has been arrested for scamming a Bergen County senior out of more than $25,000, said local police.
Abba Cohen, 40, of Flushing, was apprehended by New York City Police on Aug. 11, said Glen Rock police this week.
He was wanted by the Glen Rock Police Department on charges of conspiracy to commit theft by deception and receiving stolen property, said police.

Police said the charges were the result of an investigation into a January 2024 home improvement scam that defrauded an elderly resident out of $25,800.
Cohen had been arrested on similar charges before, according to published reports.

Cohen remains in custody in New York City awaiting extradition to New Jersey, police said.
Home improvement scams are common; a different Queens man was arrested last year in relation to a "roof repair" scam in Bergen County.
Cohen remains in custody of New York City authorities pending extradition.
