Services are scheduled this week for Michael Feeney, a 10-year-old Ridgewood resident who passed away Friday. He had become an inspiration to many during his four-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma.
A fifth grader at Hawes Elementary School, Feeney earlier this year spent a day as honorary chief of the Ridgewood Police and helped inspire the department's youth ambassador program.
“Michael demonstrated the traits of a true leader, inspiring others with his courage, his compassion for others and his desire to make a positive difference for his community and for young people,” the police department wrote Sunday.
