RIDGEWOOD, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We're working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Joseph moved here from England during the COVID-19 pandemic and did eighth grade remotely. Making friends was not easy. He wanted to play "American football” and was given the opportunity on the freshman team last year. He has worked hard, practiced, and has diligently followed the coaches’ instructions in both sports.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Joseph gets along well with his teammates on and off the field.
