Police Chase Through Glen Rock and Paramus Leads To Arrest

A New York man with Pennsylvania plates was nabbed on the Garden State Parkway after a police chase.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A police chase through Glen Rock and Paramus on Thursday resulted in one arrest, Glen Rock police said Monday.

Just before 1 a.m., police said, Glen Rock Officer T.J. Graziani heard a Bergen County Sheriff’s officer say a car had fled after he tried to stop it on Route 4.

Graziani noticed the car at the stop light near Lincoln Avenue and Harristown Road. He turned his police car around. The other car took off at a high rate of speed toward Route 208, police said.

Graziani followed the car onto Route 208, activating lights and sirens. He saw that the Pennsylvania plates didn't match the vehicle. But he following the car near Route 4 because of its high rate of speed, police said.

Paramus police were able to stop the car on the Garden State Parkway southbound near the Saddle Brook Toll Plaza.

Bergen County Sheriff’s officers took the man into custody.

Roni Xhaferi, 25, of Staten Island, was charged with eluding police said. He also received summonses for driving without a license, reckless driving, careless driving, unsafe lane change, driving without a license, fictitious license plates, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to signal turn.
