Presentation on Youth Suicide Prevention at BF Middle School

Two leaders in suicide prevention will be there to present and answer questions from the audience on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

In light of the recent tragedy of Tyler Clementi, the recent RHS grad who had committed suicide after allegedly having a sexual encounter with another man broadcast over the internet by his Rutgers roomate, the Ridgewood school district will be holding a seminar on preventing such incidents from occurring at 7:30 p.m on Wednesday evening at BF Middle School. Clementi is the third Ridgewood HS student or alum to take their own life in the last year.

Parents, staff and community members are invited to see Scott Fritz and Maureen Underwood of the Society for Prevention of Teen Suicide answer questions and hold the seminar, titled "Not My Kid: What Every Parent Should Know About Youth Suicide Prevention."

The event will take place on Wednesday evening at the auditorium at Benjamin Franklin Middle School and is free to the public. Children are not allowed to attend the event; it's for adults-only and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
