Quick Response, Thermal Imaging Technology Help Put Down 3-Alarm Fire
No injuries were reported at East Ridgewood Avenue fire
Aided with modern thermal imaging technology, Ridgewood firefighters were able to prevent a three-alarm fire at an East Ridgewood Avenue home from spreading just past 7:00 Sunday night.
Alerted by a fire alarm after a blaze broke out in a finished basement that spread up to the ceiling, firefighters were on scene within one minute of the fire being reported, Chief Jim Van Goor said from the scene. Crews used thermal imaging technology to locate hot spots and were put the fire out before it spread to other sections of the house.
No injuries were reported in the fire and there was minimal water damage to the home though a gas line burned through, Van Goor said.
Fire officials are still determining whether the home will be habitable tonight and are investigating the cause of the blaze.
