Ridgewood Man Hospitalized After Suspected Drunk Driving Crash: Police
A Ridgewood man was charged with a DWI after he overturned his SUV over the weekend, police said.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A Ridgewood man stands accused of driving while intoxicated after he rolled his SUV and had to be extricated through the sunroof, according to authorities.
Jason Romine, 40, was driving east on Rock Road Saturday when he hit two vehicles parked on the side of the road and then struck the curb, causing his Ford Expedition to overturn on the driver's side, Glen Rock police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
Romine was pulled out of his vehicle after the approximately 11:50 p.m. crash and was found to have an odor of alcohol emanating from his person, slurred speech, and other signs of intoxication, Ackermann said.

The Ridgewood man told police he did not know what happened. He was taken to an area hospital, where he had blood drawn for toxicology testing, and was left in the custody of hospital staff and a sober family member, police said.
Romine was charged with a DWI and issued a summons for careless driving. His SUV, as well as the two parked vehicles, were extensively damaged and towed away from the scene, police added.
