Ridgewood PD Responds to Six Car Break-Ins in One Day, Urges Residents to Lock Cars
Police say a 2009 Cadillac Escalade was also stolen from a home on Sunset Avenue.

Ridgewood Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles after they say the department responded to numerous reports of car break-ins on March 16, including a report of a stolen vehicle.
According to Detective Chris McDowell, police responded to Heights Road, Crest Road and Sunset Avenue on the report of six car entries, all of which were unlocked and had “unknown items ... taken.” A 2009 Cadillac Escalade was also reported stolen from a Sunset Avenue home.
All matters are currently under investigation and police urge residents to “report any suspicious persons immediately” and to lock their cars.

“The Ridgewood Police Department would like to remind residents that they should lock all car doors and never leave the keys in the vehicle,” Detective McDowell said. “Items that may be expensive and vulnerable to theft should not be left in the vehicle.”
