Ridgewood Ramps Up Graydon Pool Lifeguard Search
A possible shortage of lifeguards could impact when the pool opens or what its hours will be.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ – The village is ramping up its search for lifeguards to work at Graydon Pool this summer.
A possible lifeguard shortage has prompted Ridgewood to do “a more aggressive campaign” to advertise openings at the municipal pool, NorthJersey.com reported. That includes reaching out to nearby colleges and universities, several towns, Ridgewood High School, local swim teams and the New Jersey Pool Managers Association, the newspaper reported.
A lack of lifeguards could result in limited hours once the pool opens on Memorial Day weekend or it could push back the official opening for a few weeks, the report said.

Uncertified candidates can register with Ridgewood Parks and Recreation for the Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Training for sand-bottomed pools. Classes will be held June 29 through July 31, and will include re-certification, bridging, and new certifications. Employment with Graydon Pool may be offered once the certifications are received, according to the village.
