Swastikas Discovered, DWI, Jewelry Theft: Ridgewood Pd Blotter

Village police responded to a number of reports, including a Maxwell Place burglary and Linwood Ave. crash caused by an intoxicated man.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ - Village police responded to a number of incidents in October, including reports of swastikas found drawn onto a surface in a high school bathroom, a burglary at a Maxwell Place home and a car crash caused by an intoxicated man five times over the legal limit.

Oct. 15 - Car Burglary

A Van Emburgh Avenue resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report during the overnight hours his unlocked vehicle was entered and items were removed from within the parked vehicle. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Oct. 15 - Fraudulent Credit Card Charges

A North Maple Avenue resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report a theft and fraud occurred in the past. The victim reported he believed a person stole his wallet in June 2019. The victim reported he was notified his wallet was located in the possession of a person who was currently under arrest in another jurisdiction. The victim reported he discovered fraudulent purchases were made and he notified the credit card companies of the fraudulent activity.

Oct. 16 - Fraudulent Credit Card Charges

A North Pleasant Avenue responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters to report a fraud in the past. The victim reported an unknown person opened a fraudulent credit card account without authorization. The victim reported after discovering the fraudulent account the credit card company was notified and the account was closed.

Oct. 18 - Swastikas Discovered

Det. Anthony Mormino responded and investigated an incident of criminal mischief and a bias crime at the Ridgewood High School. A school administrator reported building maintenance employees discovered three swastikas were located to have been rubbed on a surface in a bathroom stall. The surface was cleaned and there was no permanent damage. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Oct. 19 - Fake Identification

Patrol units responded to 175 Franklin Avenue on a report of a male party attempting to purchase liquor with a fraudulent identification. The business reported the actor was confronted within the liquor department, and he provided a fraudulent N.J. Driver’s License and then walked away leaving the identification. Patrol continued to investigate and identified the actor. A special complaint was issued charging the 18 yr. old male from Ridgewood, N.J. with possession of a fraudulent government document. The special complaint was served and a scheduled court appearance is pending.

Oct. 19 - Jewelry Stolen

Patrol units responded to a Maxwell Place residence on a report of a suspicious acts. Upon arrival patrol met with a family member of the owner of the residence. The family member reported she discovered jewelry missing from the residence and believed there was a burglary and theft into the residence. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene to investigate the incident.

Oct. 22 - Criminal Mischief

A Ridgewood Signal Department employee discovered criminal mischief damage to the grass in a Village of Ridgewood Park. A grass area was sprayed painted without authorization sometime in the past. The incident was documented and the damage did not appear to be permanent.

Oct. 22 - Driving While Intoxicated

At 7:40pm there was a three car crash at the intersection of Linwood Ave. and Maple Ave. The crash was investigated by the Ridgewood Police Patrol Division, and assisted by the Ridgewood Traffic Bureau. During the investigation it was determined that the driver that caused the crash, a 36 year old Ridgewood resident was intoxicated and over 5 times the legal limit. He, along with other parties involved in the crash, were taken to local hospitals for treatment to their non-life threatening injuries. Mr Teresinski was charged with two (2) counts of Assault by Auto, DWI, DWI within 500 feet of a Public Park, Reckless Driving, and not wearing his seatbelt. He was processed and released pending a future court date.
