The Weather, Wine and Valentine's Day
Believe it or not, there might be a correlation according to one local wine expert

The weather seems to make a difference in what wines Valentine's Day couples select, says owner Donald Callwood.
"If there's snow on the ground people have a tendency to go with a deeper red, like a zin[fandel] or even a heavy bordeau," Callwood says. "If it's nice and warm, you'll find a lot of champagnes, shiraz and malbecs."
Given the weather – 2 to 4 inches projected on Friday night – he may want to stock up on those heavy reds before Tuesday night approaches.

The owner of the popular wine store on Chestnut Street says sales seem to be trending upward, a good sign. So well, he hasn't needed to advertise specials. Instead of grabbing a few cheaper $20 bottles, gentlemen are treating their spouses to a better $40 or $50 bottle, like a David Bruce pinot, he says.
For those eating lighter fare like sushi, fume blanc's with a crisp, fruity consistency are good bets. Heavier food with meat (say, The Stable) or an Italian fare with shanks or red pastas will be a good pairing with deep reds.
