What's Your Take on Gabbert's Pay Raise?

The village manager made $165K in late 2009 and will make $185K retroactive to January 2011

Four members of the Ridgewood Village Council thought it a good idea to . Others? Not so much. Councilman Paul Aronsohn was awfully peeved by the move and by the looks of it, there wasn't much public support for the raise either.

Certainly, a few questions emerge here.

1) The council members who voted for the raise said Gabbert's moves have saved the village significant money, hundreds of thousands of dollars. If Gabbert has saved the village exponentially more than what he'll be taking in on the raise, does that change your opinion of the raise? Or is it still, as many said, his job to do so and thus, inappropriate?

2) Would you be in favor of any raise to the Ridgewood Village Manager? Was it just this was too much, if you're against the raise?

3) How much, if any, impact does this have on what vote you'd cast in the next run of local elections in 2012? Would this cause you to vote for different candidates? (Councilman Wellinghorst, Mayor Killion and Aronsohn's seats are up in the spring.)
