A highlight of what happened this past week in River Dell



As the  of slips quietly by in River Dell and the Gulf Coast is battered by Isaac, emergency services in both towns have learned much in the past year and worked to improve their ability on getting residents better prepared.

One way that River Edge and Oradell have both moved forward is by allocating funding to purchasing new generators. In River Edge, a will be installed soon to have the capacity to power the  and  on a 24-hour basis if required.

Opting to not wait any longer for  on demolishing the American Legion, the River Edge Council split along party lines to begin drafting a funding ordinance of $45,000 for the removal of the Dutch-Colonial building that is .



Following five years as a determined Board of Education candidate in River Edge, Gyuchang Sim was officially sworn in as the Board's newest member Wednesday night.

While waiting for work to begin on the  to  and the , River Edge is also looking forward to additional projects in town including replacement bus shelters and ADA compliant doors. The borough is also in the midst of narrowing down the list of potential Community Development Block Grant applications.



Every season is a rebuilding year for the River Dell Golden Hawks football squad which has continually said farewell to upwards of 20 athletes each June following graduation. But come fall, the thoughts of rebuilding are long gone and replaced by how can the rising team improve on the prior season. This year will be no different as the Hawks will look to their rising seniors and underclassman to fill the gaps left behind.

Germano Named Top NJ Player to Watch this Year

MSG Varsity spent the summer counting down the top 30 New Jersey athletes to watch, in no particular order, for the upcoming school year. On Friday they highlighted No. 1, Bergen Catholic football star Jon Germano. Germano, a Hawthorne native, hasn't been in the spotlight for too long, but football fans around the Garden State have quickly made him a household name.
