Habitat Bergen Receives $100,000 at 18th Anniversary Gala

Oritani Bank donated $100,000 to Habitat's Oradell project

Earlier this month, Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County celebrated their 18th anniversary gala, an “Evening of Thanks” at The Venetian in Garfield.  Guests were treated to a lavish cocktail reception while being entertained by Soul Finger Live.

During the program, Habitat Bergen recognized TD Charitable Foundation for their critical ongoing support for affordable housing projects. The foundation had just awarded the affiliate a to kick-off their Oradell project. Next came a surprise announcement from Kevin J. Lynch, President of the Oritani Bank Charitable Foundation: Habitat Bergen was being awarded $100,000 grant from their organization.

“Over the years, we have been an enthusiastic supporter of the work of Habitat for Humanity, most recently with a $100,000 grant for their Waldwick project,” said Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank. “We’re very proud that this year’s project is doubly special. Besides providing homeownership to deserving families, it is Habitat Bergen’s first project being built to the stringent LEED certification standards. It’s an honor for our bank to be associated so significantly with this great organization.”

The evening’s theme took on a very special meaning as Tyrone Herrera, speaking on behalf of all Habitat Bergen homeowners, touchingly described “…the gift of becoming a first-time homeowner”.

Attendees responded with a standing ovation and renewed commitment to support the Habitat mission. In addition to the grant awards, net proceeds from the gala topped $70,000, which will help fund the affiliate’s first in Oradell.
