River Edge Man Charged with Groping Woman on Bus

Alexander Kim, 19, was arrested after allegedly groping a woman on a Port Authority bus and stealing her cell phone.

A River Edge resident was arrested Tuesday in Leonia after allegedly groping a woman and stealing her cell phone while on a Port Authority bus.

Alexander Kim was charged with sexual contact and theft after a Leonia resident reported that he groped her and stole her cell phone on a Red and Tan Lines bus into New York City, according to Leonia Police Chief Jay E. Ziegler.

The victim had stated that for the past month, Kim had allegedly been engaging in inappropriate behavior which had escalated into several criminal acts when he intentionally touched her breast and thigh and then stole her phone on Monday.

Leonia Detectives Robert Kennedy and Anthony Mikatarian, during their investigation, tracked the victim's cell phone to Kim. Kim was brought in for questioning and was later charged with criminal sexual contact and theft, Ziegler said. He was arrested and released from custody on his own recognizance.

Leonia Police believe there are additional unidentified victims, as Kim had been traveling from River Edge to the 42nd Street Port Authority bus terminal for the past two months on the Red and Tan bus lines 11A, 21 and 21T.
