Middlesex Co. Man Gets 25 Years For Luring Escorts, Raping Them

The judge also imposed a $5,000 special assessment on Jose Torres for trafficking.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – A Middlesex County man was sentenced to 25 years and nine months in prison for luring women to visit NJ for sex, sexually assaulting them and refusing to pay, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Jose Torres, 46, was previously convicted of all four counts of a second superseding indictment following a six-day trial before U.S. District Judge Brian R. Martinotti.

From May 2015 to October 2019, Torres persuaded, induced and enticed womens, often sex workers, to travel from out of state locations, including Canada and New York, to engage in prostitution with him, court documents said.

Torres trolled prostitution websites and targeted out-of-state sex workers. He lured them to NJ with promises of large sums of payment, but once the women were in NJ, he refused to pay them. When the women asked for payment, Torres became aggressive, often assaulting and raping them, according to court documents.

In addition to the prison term, Torres was sentenced to 15 years of supervised release and a $5,000 special assessment was imposed on him for trafficking.
