South Brunswick Water May Be Discolored This Month: Here’s Why

Discoloration of tap water in South Brunswick this month will not affect the quality or safety of the water, officials said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick residents need not be alarmed if they find discolored water coming from the taps this month.

Hydrant flushing operations in South Brunswick may cause discoloration, township officials said. Though water use is recommended to be kept to a minimum due to potential discoloration, the water will still be safe to use.

“Any discoloration caused by the flushing operation will be of short duration and will not affect the quality or safety of the water,” officials said.

The hydrant flushing began on April 10 and will continue for about six weeks between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Flushing will begin in the vicinity of Broadway Road and proceed up Dayton towards Davidson’s Mill Road. Flushing will then continue in Monmouth Junction and Route 1 areas. After crossing Route 1, the flushing operation will move from Kingston through Kendall Park to Brunswick Acres.

The high service area consisting of Wood Gate, High Gate and Princeton Manor will be last to be serviced, officials said.
