Woman Killed In Route. 1 Crash Friday In South Brunswick

The woman's car struck a tractor-trailer on Route 1 South early Friday morning, police said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 24-year-old Trenton woman was killed and two people injured in an early morning crash on Route 1 South Brunswick, police said.

Around 2:25 a.m., the 24-year-old was driving on Route 1 South near the intersection of New Road when she struck the back of a tractor-trailer.

Witnesses from a nearby Taco Bell saw the crash and attempted to render aid, police said.

A third vehicle, also traveling south on Route 1, then struck the back of the woman’s vehicle. The tractor-trailer involved in the crash left the scene, police said.

The woman was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police did not release any further information, including the identity of the woman pending notification to kin.

The incident remains under active investigation.
