Just one week after scammers took thousands of dollars from an 85-year-old Linden woman, a new pair of tricksters victimized the Bower Street resident for a second time.
On July 8, a man offered to seal the elderly woman’s driveway and back patio for the “great price” of $7,000, but instead, only spray-painted the driveway black and took off with the money. The same woman reports that at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday night a couple known as “Rita,” and Freddie,” came to her door and offered to help out with her driveway, according to My Central Jersey.
“Freddie” is described as a white male wearing “business clothing,” and “Rita” is described as a white female wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Linden Police said that as the woman and her 90-year-old husband sat in the kitchen and talked with “Rita” for about an hour, ”Freddie” allegedly strolled around through the house. When the couple left, the elderly woman noticed several items out of place and silver jewelry missing from her drawer, according to nj.com.
The incident is still under investigation.
