Former Springfield Auxiliary Police Volunteer Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges
One time Roselle Park cop faces up to 10 years in prison.

A former volunteer with Springfield's auxiliary police force, pleaded guilty to child porn charges in a Federal court in Trenton on Monday, June 14.
Ronald Scull, 66, of Roselle Park turned himself in for arrest to the U.S. Attorney's office in February after a 14-month investigation by U.S. postal inspectors and other law enforcement agencies. The Scull's mail and internet use was monitored, leading to a federal search warrant executed at his home on August 13, 2009.
The search reportedly revealed that Scully had downloaded over 1,000 images depicting child pornography from the internet.

Scully, who retired from the Roselle Park police force in 2000 after attaining the rank of sergeant, acted as part of Springfield's volunteer Auxiliary police force until he resigned shortly after the August search of his home.
United States Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced this week that Scull admitted in court to regularly searching the Internet for images of child pornography using sexually suggestive terms and saving those images to his computer hard drives for his sexual gratification.

His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 21. Scull faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
