Mountain Ave. to Be Closed for Paving Today
The road is being re-paved through stimulus funds.

Mountain Ave in Springfield, which is maintained by Union County, will be closed for paving starting today, Aug. 3. The work is estimated to last two days, depending on the weather.
The road will be closed from traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Shunpike Road and North Trivett Avenue. The stretch of road is small—approximately 220 feet according to Google maps—but the impact will surely be felt as the stretch of road passes near the YMCA, in front of Jonathan Dayton High School and ends near town hall and the library.
According to a letter from the county, the work will include milling, paving and striping of the road. Emergency vehicles will have access to the road. All other drivers will be directed on a detour route. Parking on that section of Mountain Ave. will also be prohibited.
