According to Springfield police, a motorist stopped for a minor motor vehicle infraction was charged with weapon possession.   According to a Springfield police report, on Thursday, July 15, Sheldon Prince was stopped at the intersection of Morris Ave. and Caldwell place for driving straight through a right-turn-only lane. Police found that the 28-year-old Irvington resident had two bench warrants in Newark for failing to appear in court for traffic tickets. While Prince was stopped, police say they noticed he had a 9-inch long knife stuck between the car's driver's seat and center console. Police described the blade as "military/commando" style. Prince was charged with possession of a weapon and careless driving.
