Summit to Host Cyberbullying Assembly

Jeff Heaney Assistant Principal at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School writes in about this important event next week.

On Thursday, Oct. 27th Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School will be hosting an assembly entitled "Bullying, Cyberbullying and Youth Depression" by Mr. John Halligan at 7PM in the auditorium.

Mr. Halligan's son, Ryan, took his own life after many years of bullying and harassment (most of which occurred on-line and off school grounds).  Ryan was only 13 years old.

In memory of his son, John spearheaded the Vermont Bully Prevention bill  which was signed into law (ACT117) in May 2004 and only a few months after Ryan's death.
