City Website Gets a New Look

The redesigned site makes it easier to share information and handle city business online.

Your digital link into has a new, slick look. Last week the city debuted  a revamped cityofsummit.org website.

"The old site was outdated and lacked the functional elements that a useful, municipal website must have," said Amy Cairns Harrison, Environmental Commission Chair who helped design and edit the site along with Debra Trisler.

More and more municipalities are going online to help residents with online tax payments and municipal calendars. Harrison said the new Summit site was headed up by Beth Kinney of the and Community Services Manager Jin Blades.

The site has large buttons along the top of the page, which brings residents to pages where they can read and download information related to government, business, recreation, art/events, education and environment.

A link for emergency service information is located prominently on the site's main page, with a full array of info pegged to storm preparation and hurricane readiness. Local city happenings are also found displayed on the front. Residents can also sign up for email alerts from a wide variety of categories.

"We believe that this new site will better serve the needs of residents, businesses and others who are interested in Summit," said Harrison.
