Downed Utility Pole In Summit Causes Power Outage

One lane of traffic is closed on Morris Ave. due to the downed pole, police said.

SUMMIT, NJ — A downed utility pole on Morris Avenue is leaving many Summit residents without power Monday morning, according to the City.

JCP&L is reporting an outage affecting about 658 customers from a downed utility pole on Morris Avenue, according to the city's announcement at 7:45 a.m.

As of 9:18 a.m., JCP&L's outage map shows that only about 17 customers are impacted by the outage.

The city said a JCP&L crew is en route to investigate the incident. Summit Police has closed one lane of traffic on Morris Avenue between Aubrey and Plain Street and is advising commuters to plan an alternate route and avoid the area.
