Early Dismissal For Summit Public Schools Due To Stormy Weather
Severe thunderstorms are expected to roll into Summit this afternoon. The district announced an early dismissal for all schools.
SUMMIT, NJ — Severe thunderstorms are predicted Monday afternoon, and Summit Public Schools have announced an early dismissal for all schools.
Due to the "potentially dangerous weather conditions," the district announced it will conduct an emergency early dismissal on Monday.
The dismissal schedule is as follows:

- 1 p.m. for primary centers (no afternoon pre-k)
- 1:15 p.m. elementary schools
- 1:30 p.m. middle and high school
According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly after 2 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning, NWS predicts.
