Free Agent NFL Player Admits to Multiple Offenses
A Summit man and free agent NFL linebacker admitted to three criminal offenses Wednesday.

A free NFL linebacker admitted Wednesday to multiple criminal offenses in connection with a December 2014 domestic incident in the City of Summit, according to authorities.
Jermaine Cunningham, 26, pleaded guilty to single counts of third-degree invasion of privacy, fourth-degree illegal transport of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of hollow-point bullets, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Summit Police responded to a home on Lafayette Avenue on Dec. 29, 2014, after a call from his estranged girlfriend regarding a domestic dispute, authorities said. Police discovered a Walther PK 380 handgun and then found hollow-point bullets in his vehicle.

Cunningham, who most recently played for the New York Jets, also posted a sexually explicit image of his estranged girlfriend on Instagram without her consent, the prosecutor’s office said.
The firearm was legally owned and registered to Cunningham, but was illegally transported to New Jersey, authorities said. As a part of his plea deal, Cunningham, who has no prior criminal record in New Jersey, is required to forfeit the handgun recovered.
