Free Thanksgiving Fun, Turkey Drive Planned For Summit

Football and movies will also be part of the activities at the event.

SUMMIT, NJ — The City of Summit will be home to two Thanksgiving events to bring the community together and also bridge the gap that needy families have in accessing food.

On Nov. 23, the Other Fellow First Foundation will hold its annual Turkey Drive from 1 to 4 p.m. outside of the Summit Diner (1 Union Pl.).

"It's the season of giving," Mayor Elizabeth Fagan said as she spoke on the efforts of the organization. "They're having a party, and they welcome you to come and honor our first responders."

This year is the event's 25th anniversary and includes music and activities for kids, like touring police and fire department vehicles.

There will be drop-off locations for frozen turkeys, non-perishable food, or monetary donations. According to Mayor Elizabeth Fagan, the entire proceeds will go to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
