Fundraising Flamingos Set to Return to Summit Lawns
The annual Project Graduation staple is making its return.
The flamingos are coming back.
In an effort to raise money for Project Graduations, senior students from Summit High School are planting flamingos by the flock on front lawns around town. The successful fundraiser, which has been going on for the past eight years, raises between $2,000 and $5,000 each year while raising awareness about Project Graduation.
Community members are invited to send flamingoes to Summit families, according to a release. Preference will be given to orders for families with graduating seniors, but other orders will be considered as time allows.

Flamingos will be planted daily after nightfall in groups of 10-40 along with a sign that says “Support Project Graduation”. An envelope and donation form will be left with the flamingos.
The money raised during the flamingo fundraiser helps offset the cost of Project Graduation, which runs around $130 per student. Families of graduates are asked to contribute $100, but no students are turned away.
According to a release, Project Graduation is sponsored by the Summit Community Club which was formed in 2010 as a service organization committing to serving the needs of Summit’s youth.
