Halloween In Summit 2022: Haunted Hike, Scream On The Green + More
Summit residents can look forward to a spooky hike in Martins Brook Park, the annual Halloween parade and more events this fall season.

SUMMIT, NJ — Feel the cool breeze? Smell the pumpkin spice? Fall is quickly approaching, which means Halloween is right around the corner.
Summit's Department of Community Programs has lots of fun events planned for the Halloween season, including the city's annual parade, a haunted hike at Martins Brook Park and a film screening of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on the Village Green.
Halloween Parade

The parade will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 starting at Deforest Ave. and ending at the Village Green on 356 Broad Street. The schedule will be as follows:
- 2:45 p.m.- Line up at 25 Deforest Avenue
- 3 p.m.- Depart for Village Green
- Arrival until 4:15 p.m. - judging, games, music and fun
- 4:15 p.m. - Announcement of winners
- Entertainment continues through 5 p.m.
This event will include a "chilling" costume contest, sweet treats and ghoulish giveaways and spooktacular games and entertainment. The rain date is Oct. 30.

Costume will be awarded for first, second, and third place in the following categories: Most 2022 Relevant, Scariest, Cutest, Best Group, Most Original, Mayor's Choice, and Best Overall.
Haunted Hike
The haunted hike at Martins Brook Park will take place on Friday, Oct. 7 (rain date Oct. 8). From 6 to 7 p.m. there will be a "less scary hike" on the trail suitable for younger children, and from 7 to 8 p.m. a "super scary hike" will take place, which is suitable for all ages.
Those who opt for the scarier hike can expect some characters hidden along the trail who will jump out for a spook.
Adult supervision must accompany any child in 4th grade or younger. A $5 donation is also suggested at entry. Treats will also be available at the end of the hike located on Butler Parkway.
Scream On The Green
Lastly "Scream on the Green" will take place Friday, Oct. 21 (rain date Oct. 28). Treats and cider will also be available while "The Nightmare Before Christmas" plays.
A family dance party and bonfire will begin at 6 p.m. before the movie showing at dark.
