Hearing Continues on Controversial Summit Subdivision

The hearing on a project for two homes on 10 Highland Drive continues tonight.

The Summit Planning Board will  The hearing carried over from a Feb. 27 meeting that drew and group of neighbors and their attorney.

The project looks to build two homes on .725 acres of land and will knock down over a dozen trees on the property. Many of the neighbors were concerned with possible blasting of bedrock in the area, as well as changes to the overall look of the neighborhood.

Many homes throughout the area and surrounding blocks were in solidarity on a push against the granting of variances to build the homes. White wire-framed signs reading "No Subdivision" were stuck into the ground.

Short Hills residents Harry Allan and Alicia Connaughton are the owners of the property which has an assessed value of $531,600.

The Summit Planning Board meets tonight at 8p.m. at City Hall.
