• Threat Leads To Shelter-In-Place At Union County Schools: Police (patch.com) — Summit families saw a brief shelter-in-place at Brayton Elementary and Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School after police were alerted to a phoned threat believed to originate in the city. Although the threat targeted a school outside Summit, local officers and the Board of Education quickly coordinated, identified a suspect, and lifted the orders so classes could safely continue.

• Summit Welcomes New Council President, Other Members At Meeting Tuesday Night (patch.com) — Summit’s Common Council has a new president, Claire Toth, and three newly sworn-in members following Tuesday’s organization meeting, as Mayor Elizabeth Fagan outlined 2025 progress and 2026 priorities. Residents can expect continued work on affordable housing, safer streets, new sidewalks and traffic calming, plus ongoing upgrades like Tatlock Field lights and e-bike safety rules that aim to protect quality of life citywide.
