Book Inspired By Spouse With Alzheimer's

“Silently Screaming,” a journal of poetry and notes on caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, is available for purchase at Lulu.com.  Proceeds from the sale of this book will benefit ’s Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center.  

The author of the book, Carrie McLeod Howson of West Orange, NJ, grew up in the Arizona desert and graduated from Bennington College.  At 62, she turned to poetry as a way to express her feelings about her husband’s Alzheimer’s, and found it to be an avenue to celebrations of life.  “Silently Screaming” is a compilation of poetry and notes that Ms. Howson wrote as she was caring for her husband.

“We are very grateful that Ms. Howson has so generously chosen to dedicate the proceeds of this book toSAGE’s Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center,” stated Dawn Knill, Director of Development for SAGE.  “Our Spend-A-Day program often has clients who are in various stages of Alzheimer’s and so it is fitting that the monies raised from this book would help others who are caring for loved ones with dementia.”
