Shoplifting Charge for Chatham Senior Citizen; Automobile Stolen in Summit

Shelly C. Ostrowski, 73, of Chatham was arrested for allegedly shoplifting from a business on DeForest Avenue, according to Summit police. The incident happened March 26.

A Newark teen was arrested for hindering apprehension or prosecution in the 3rd degree. Doremus T. Baker, 19, was taken into custody by Summit Police near Springfield Avenue and Maple Street on March 28.

Contempt of Court
Three Newark residents were arrested on charges of contempt of court. On March 24, Jose E. Guzman,31, was arrested after a stop on Route 24 and Broad St, and was hit with the charge. Veronica Quinones, 20, was also charged and arrested at the same location.
On March 27, Malika Shanta Oliver, 34, was arrested on Broad Street on a similar charge.
Theft
Automobile
On the afternoon of March 24 a four-door Saturn LS1 was reportedly stolen from a residential parking lot on Chestnut Avenue in Summit. The incident was reported two days later to Summit police.
Cellphone
A smartphone was reported at Overlook Hospital on March 24. A Samsung Focus was reported stolen from a patient's room between noon and 12:30p.m. on March 23.
