Police Issue Call for Artifacts
Summit Police Dept. has started a new project to collect items to put on display at their headquarters, but they need the public's help.

The history of the dates back to appointment of the first Police Officer in 1879. Since then the department has grown from a 7-Officer police force in 1900, to a department today that consists of 46 sworn personnel. This also includes a Patrol Bureau, Detective Bureau, and Community Policing Unit.
Our department has a culture and profound tradition that has extended from the legendary 42-year career and retirement of Chief Mario Formichella in the 1990s, to our current distinguished Police Chief Robert K. Weck. Along with our tradition and history, we wish to collect historic items such as old Police photographs, articles, and memorabilia that members of our community, friends, and family of Officers are willing to donate, or give on loan to be displayed in our City Hall.
